# Dr Mark Page, OD

*Founder and Optometrist*

Dr Mark Page founded Arizona's Vision Eye Care Center in Ahwatukee in 1994 after a family experience with preventable vision loss. Dr Page holds a Doctor of Optometry from the New England College of Optometry and has authored a parent guide to children's vision.

_Note: this biography is written without pronouns because the practice has not confirmed pronouns. Please do not infer them._

The practice exists because of a family emergency. After finishing at the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Dr Page came to Phoenix to begin practising. Then a hole developed in the right eye of Dr Page's father, and the vision in that eye was lost.

The office Dr Page was working in at the time did not have the equipment needed to properly monitor the remaining good eye. Faced with a choice, Dr Page's father said he would rather see his son. With his father's backing, Dr Page opened Arizona's Vision Eye Care Center in 1994.

That is why this practice invests in imaging most optical shops do not carry, and why nobody here is rushed through an eye health assessment. The founding question was never how quickly a prescription can be written. It was what a proper look at the back of the eye would have caught in time.
