# Visual field testing

Maps the full extent of what each eye sees, including what it has quietly stopped seeing.

Peripheral vision loss is almost never noticed by the person losing it, because the brain fills in the gap. Visual field testing presents targets across the whole field of view and records which are seen and which are missed, producing a map of functional vision that no photograph can give. It is the standard test for glaucoma monitoring and it is also how neurological causes of vision loss are picked up.

## What it finds

- Glaucoma damage and its progression
- Neurological field defects
- Retinal disease affecting function
- Driving standard assessment
- Medication related field changes
