Casa Grande sits midway between Phoenix and Tucson on the I-10 and functions as the commercial centre for a wide agricultural region, with a growing manufacturing base alongside. Named for the ruins rather than the other way round, it began as a mining supply town on the Southern Pacific line and became an agricultural centre.
