## About Goodyear

Goodyear grew from a company town built around cotton production for tyre manufacture into one of the fastest growing cities in the west valley. Development runs south towards the Estrella Mountains and the ranges beyond. The name comes from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, which bought land here in 1917 to grow cotton for tyre cord. Estrella Mountain Ranch and the developments south of the I-10 have driven most of the recent growth, and the city now stretches well towards the Estrella range.
