Komatke is a community within the Gila River Indian Community on the southwestern side of South Mountain, near the historic St Johns Mission and beneath the Estrella Mountains. The community sits along the Gila River on the western side of the Estrella range, within the Gila River Indian Community. St Johns Mission has operated here since the 1890s, and the surrounding land remains substantially agricultural, farmed under the community's own irrigation project.
