# Safety Glasses

Prescription safety glasses meet defined impact resistance standards for workplace use. They combine vision correction with certified protection, which ordinary prescription glasses do not provide.

Workplace eye injuries are common and overwhelmingly preventable. Grinding, cutting, chemical handling, woodworking and construction all generate hazards that ordinary glasses do not protect against.

Certified safety eyewear differs in specific ways: thicker impact rated lenses, frames tested to withstand impact without failing, and side protection against particles arriving from an angle. Prescription safety glasses provide all of that alongside your correction, which is what stops workers removing protective eyewear because they cannot see well through it.

Titmus, one of the twenty one brands carried here, is a long established safety eyewear manufacturer.

## Questions and answers
**Do my normal glasses count as safety glasses?**

No. Ordinary prescription glasses do not meet workplace impact standards and offer no side protection.

**Can I get prescription safety glasses?**

Yes. That is generally the right answer for anyone who needs correction at work, because goggles worn over glasses fog and get removed.

**Does my employer pay?**

Many employers fund prescription safety eyewear as required personal protective equipment. Check with your workplace.

**What about UV for outdoor work?**

Safety eyewear is available with tinting and UV protection, which matters a great deal for outdoor trades in Arizona.
