# Eye care for Athletes

Ortho-K removes vision correction from the sporting day entirely: no glasses to fog or break, no lens to dislodge or dry out, and swimming is not a problem. Daily disposables and protective eyewear cover the rest.

Sport is where the practical limits of glasses become obvious. The frame edge cuts peripheral vision at exactly the moment awareness matters most, lenses fog and smear, and a knock takes both the glasses and the player out.

Contact lenses solve most of it and create one problem: dry, windy conditions and long outdoor sessions dry a lens out, and water sport rules them out entirely.

Ortho-K is why a lot of athletes end up here. Correction happens overnight, so the entire competitive day involves nothing on the eye at all. For swimmers it removes the water contact problem completely.

## What matters most

**Swimming**

Contact lenses and water should never meet, because of acanthamoeba infection risk. Prescription goggles or Ortho-K are the real answers.

**Contact and impact sport**

Protective eyewear with polycarbonate lenses is not optional for racket sports, basketball and baseball. Contact lenses correct vision and protect nothing.

**Desert trail and road conditions**

Dust and wind dry the ocular surface directly. Wraparound protective eyewear makes a real difference on long outdoor sessions.

## Questions and answers
**Can I wear Ortho-K and still play contact sport?**

Yes, and it is one of the main reasons athletes choose it. The lenses are worn asleep, so there is nothing in the eye during play.

**Which lens for team sport?**

Daily disposables. Stable, hygienic, and a lost lens mid game costs nothing.
